Greetings Dear Friends from The Hope.

Here is another very special Hope Academy Update from our dear MOH friend Ginger Forbes.

Sincerest Regards; Emmette Thompson, Executive Director – Mission of Hope

###

God continues to bless us and provide for us here in the mountains of Kentucky!! Yesterday\’s home visits were very moving as we heard requests for items greatly needed by the families. My heart was heavy last night as I knew the limits of our donations and the items needed were not among them. I prayed that God would provide for these families. Wednesday morning I received an email of a very generous donation of brand new furniture from our Mission of Hope friends at Knoxville Wholesale Furniture Center!! Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow!

Many work projects were completed today, still a few to get to.

The home visits continued to day with the Gleason family taking food baskets to two families who live beside each other. We invited them to the program in the evening. The next visit was done by Jan Graves, Beth McRee, Margaret Jansen and Lynda Guthrie. Two precious boys named Nathan and David came out on the deck to show us their new boxing gloves. On our third visit, the Brackin family delivered a food basket to Sarah who has two sets of twins, five and six years old. She asked us to pray for her six year old twin daughter that is having severe migraine headaches. We prayed with her and asked her to let Donna know how her daughter is doing so we can stay informed.

After our early dinner, the classes began with 131 people attending. Wednesday night church services are very important to the people in the mountains so our attendance was down just a little.

There were three personal highlights for me today:
-a sweet grandmother brought me a beautiful doll with a handmade crochet dress to take to my granddaughter.
-a long time friend gave me a hand stitched small lap quilt with a picture of a rose in the middle.
-a young mother came up to me and expressed her sincere thanks to the team for being patient with her and encouraging her to attend the classes. She had been very afraid to come on Monday but everyone had been so nice to her that she decided to come back every night.

Appalachian people are a very diverse group. The families of Black Mountain are kind to one another and have a deep belief in God. They also have a strong sense of what is right and what ought to be. We may be teaching the official classes but we are learning a great deal from each of them.

Again, prayers are greatly need as we continue our week. Please pray for Elizabeth Jones as she fell tonight and bumped her head. She needs healing for a very bad headache!

In His Service,
Ginger Forbes and the Hope Academy Mission Team
