2011 Christmas Drive
Blue Barrel Collections
November 18 - December 5
With the cooler days and coming of Fall, our thoughts begin to focus on our less fortunate neighbors in rural Appalachia and how we can help them this Christmas season. Most of us are blessed every day with warm homes, warm clothes, plenty of food, and employment to provide for our needs. There are thousands of people living just a short drive from Knoxville that are struggling to provide even the basic necessities for their children from day to day. Most of these people want to work and provide for their families in the way many of us take for granted. However, this is an area of extreme poverty with few available jobs and many needs.
This will be the 16th year for our Christmas Campaign. The first year in 1996, we were able to provide for 150 children; and last year over 17,000 children and their families were assisted with food, new clothing, hygiene items, new toys and more. Our 2011 Christmas Campaign Blue Barrel Collection begins on Friday, November 18 and continue through Monday, December 5.
Bring your New Unwrapped Items to the BIG BLUE BARRELS located at any participating Food City, Chick-fil-A, Kmart, Home Federal, Sears, Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union or CVS location.
Volunteers are also needed in the following tasks:
Phone Desk Hospitality Desk Barrel Pick Up
Administrative Helpers Sorting and Packing Warehouse Workers
Truck Loaders Pick Up Drivers Various other tasks
