CONSTRUCTION

Our Construction Ministry began in the Summer of 2002. Over the years since Mission of Hope began, it has been apparent one of the greatest areas of need was in the area of construction and renovation. We still encounter the house “up in the holler” with occasional dirt floors and no running water. It is hard to conceive in this day and time that not far away from large cities in rural Appalachian areas, these conditions still exist.

If you have contacts in the construction products industry, please feel free to share them with our office.  We still have several requests for construction repairs for which we need teams to take on the projects. If your team is interested in one of these projects or you would like to join one of our Teams for future events, please call the MOH office at (865-694-4673 or 584-7571) or e-mail us at info@missionofhope.org.

Thanks for your friendship and support, but thanks most of all for helping extend the Hope!

Latest News

We have had a wonderful year in our Construction Ministry Outreach. The Big Creek Mission trips this summer did numerous construction projects which fulfilled many needs for those we are so blessed to serve. We have also had many other Mission of Hope church teams complete various construction projects in their assigned communities.

UT/THE CROSS MINISTRY BLESSES MISSION OF HOPE

A group from UT/The Cross blessed the MOH with its first time ever Fall Break Mission Trip to Bell County, KY. Approximately 90 student and adult leaders worked through one of the ministry centers we assist in Bell County to complete a number of construction projects. Lodging was donated by the local Volunteer Fire Department, food was donated by Friends of The Cross, and a shower trailer was provided by First Baptist Sevierville. We also had building materials donated by B. Ray Thompson and other Mission of Hope Friends. It is our hope that this will become a wonderful start of mission work between our ministries.

Hope Fulfilled

Several months ago, I received a heart breaking letter from a lady in Tazewell, TN; of a dire need for her family. She had to start taking care of her 41 year old brother when her Mother died; who had previously been caring for him. He is mentally disabled and in a true child like manner. He also is a fairly large man and is wheelchair confined.

She had lost her home and had to move into a Mobile Home that had no porch or deck area. She works third shift at a Nursing Home and was really in desperate need of assistance in a number of ways. She had written me a request for assistance on building a porch and handicap ramp area for her Mobile Home.

I keep all of these humble requests in what I call our MOH Wish List File.

We put a team together of 6 men including myself, and got help on the materials we needed from our new friends at Anderson Lumber in Alcoa, TN. We went up and built one of the most sturdy and good looking decks and ramps that you will ever see. A special thank you to Don Byrd, Jim Jones, Jack Watson, David Hill, and Cliff Overby; for taking a day off to go with me and do this much needed project.

When we were finished, Rachel and her husband Doan, rolled her brother Jefferson out on to the new deck and he smiled for the first time that we had seen that day. It was the first time as well that he was able to get outside in quite awhile. We gathered around together and then had prayer with this dear family.

As we all drove home exhausted, we realized that what for us was a small construction project; was truly Hope Fulfilled for someone in need.

Thanks for your support and for helping extend the Hope to those who need it.
