The Mission of Hope serves rural distressed communities classified as such by the Appalachian Regional Commission. It is indeed hard for many to imagine the dire poverty and living conditions that still exist, in many rural areas even today. There is also a very strong pride and heritage with most of the residents of these communities. In many areas where we serve, coal mining was the main source of income for many families and when the mines closed down, it left a huge economic void in many of these towns. In face, lack of jobs and opportunities is an ongoing serious problem in rural Appalachia.
The Mission of Hope tries to extend a hand up and bring a bright ray of sunshine and Hope to those who might not have much otherwise. Through various opportunities, we try to assist at different times throughout the year. We basically work through Elementary School Family Resouce Centers and Ministry Centers in the various communities we serve. Some of the ways we serve are:
- Christmas Program
- Back-to-School Program
- Spring Outreach Program
- Healthcare Assistance (Remote Area Medical)
- Construction Assistance
- Resource Distribution Assistance
- Scholarship Program and Endowments
To the left you will find links to many of the above programs. If you have any questions or would like to help in any of these area, please contact us.
Thank you for your interest and assistance.
